Ter-Lee Gardens will again be offering a CSA for the 2024 season. For those of you not familiar with the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model, here is how it works.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you, as our customer. Rather than simply purchasing produce from wherever/whenever, our customers become "members" of our CSA farm and share in the rewards and production risks, and receive a portion of our farm's harvest each week.
CSA members purchase an up-front share of the farm's produce for the season, usually May 1st, before the seeding/planting season begins.
Our CSA will run for 18 weeks. Week 1, which is usually late May or early June, will be a generous amount of asparagus. Weeks 2-18, starting the third week in June through the second week in October, includes seasonal vegetables/fruit.
Members are responsible for picking up their shares from their designated pickup sites each week. They will generally receive a minimum of 7-10 different produce items (individuals may be slightly less), and we will do our best to include fruit several times throughout the season. We will provide our members with the best of what is available at the time.
Varieties and quantities will obviously vary from week to week. We grow over 50 different crops to include throughout the CSA growing season.
Click here to see an example of what you may find in your shares throughout the season. We also will have specialty items for our CSA members including potted herbs, jam/honey, seasonal fruits (apples/berries), etc.
CSA members will have additional benefits which will include a bonus certificate, valued at $25.00 for a full share ($12.50 for a half share & $6.25 for an individual share), which can be used for any extra vegetables or fruits during the season.
Members will also have first chance to buy bonus vegetables for canning and freezing (or parties) before the public can. Also, members will be invited to "Pumpkin Pick-up Days" (at our farm or farmer's market) where members can pick out their pumpkins free of charge, according to your share size.
Our CSA members will have the option of purchasing a full-share to feed a family of four to six, a half-share to feed a family of two to four or an individual share to feed one/two person. We will offer delivery to at least two locations in Bemidji, and one location in Bagley and one in Fosston. Other locations could be possible, depending on the locations of members.
We cordially invite you to consider registering to purchase your share of our healthy, hand-harvested, delicious, mouth-watering, fresh produce. We look forward to having the opportunity to "Grow For You".
Northern Minnesota's growing season is short and the weather is often brutal. Because of our tough growing conditions, Ter-Lee Gardens uses unique growing methods to guarantee a crop.
As previously mentioned, Ter-Lee Gardens has over 50 different vegetable and fruit crops being raised on our farm. Along with that large selection comes the extended "harvest window", which is much wider than most other Minnesota growers because we farm many crops using our seven high tunnels.
This allows us to begin the harvest much sooner than growers who must wait for the risk of frost and cold winds to subside before they are able to plant outside, which then delays harvest dates drastically in northern Minnesota.
High tunnels also extend the growing season for up 8 weeks in the fall for sensitive crops, which allows us to supply you with fresh-picked produce much later in the season. For example, we normally begin harvesting "red, ripe" tomatoes by the end of June. This means our members will be eating "red, ripe" Minnesota Grown tomatoes in the month of June instead of waiting until mid-to-late August, which is when most other grower's tomatoes come to market.
Individual share - $365.00
1/2 share - $470.00
Full share - $725.00
Members may either pay in full at sign up, - or - 50% at sign up and the remaining 50% by June 30.*
We accept cash, checks (payable to Ter-Lee Gardens), credit cards or online payment. Payment plans can be arranged. Members who pay by cash or check will receive extra produce of their choice. On an individual share members will receive an extra $11 of produce, half shares will receive $15 worth of produce and full share will receive $22 worth of produce.
